Code of Conduct: AI, Algorithms and the Canadian Workplace

is presented by

HR News Canada HR Law Canada Safety News Canada

Canada has no AI law for the workplace. It doesn't need one to hold you liable.

Artificial intelligence has moved from pilot project to everyday tool. Employers use it to sort applicants, set schedules, measure output and spot hazards. Employees use it to write, research and analyze, often without a policy telling them what's allowed.

The rules already apply. Employment standards, privacy legislation, human rights codes, health and safety statutes and collective agreements all reach decisions made with the help of an algorithm.

Code of Conduct gives HR, legal and safety leaders a practical map of where AI helps, where it creates liability and what Canadian law already requires.

You'll leave knowing

  • What the law requires when AI is used in hiring, monitoring and discipline
  • How to find and reduce discrimination risk in automated decisions
  • Who is accountable when an AI safety system misses a hazard
  • What to ask vendors before you sign
  • How to build an AI policy employees will follow
